The Survey Research Shared Service (SRSS) was founded as a core
service in July 1999. The mission of the service is to promote
cancer-control research by providing Cancer Center investigators
with high quality, efficient, and low-cost assistance in designing
and implementing cancerrelated surveys. The SRSS is partially
supported by the NCI core grant and many services are offered
to Cancer Center members at a reduced rate.
The SRSS can help investigators:
- Design cost-effective research
projects
- Navigate IRB process
- Create sample frames
and draw samples
- Design survey instruments
- Implement
mail, telephone, and internet surveys
- Send survey notifications
and other correspondence to participants
- Track participation
and data collection progress
- Conduct manual or electronic
data entry
- Clean and prepare datasets for analysis
- Distribute
incentives
The SRSS provides two main areas of services: Project Development and Data Collection.
The SRSS will provide initial data processing services for all data collected. Processing services include, but are not limited to:
- editing and coding of surveys,
- data entry,
- scannable forms, and
- scientific quality assurance standards.
Data management services are provided based on the scope of the project and researcher needs.
