Rick is the North Central Project Coordinator for Spirit of Eagles: American Indian/Alaska Native Leadership Initiative on Cancer. A member of the Outreach and Tobacco Control staff of the UW Comprehensive Cancer Center, Rick has been in this role since December 2000. He brings to the position 25 years of experience in outreach, community development and health promotion within minority and under-served populations. Rick holds a MA from St. John's University, Collegeville, MN, and a BA from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, IN. He has particular interests in asset-based development and community-based research. Jackie joined the Spirit of EAGLES program in July 2003 as a research specialist. Her primary responsibility is with the Great Lakes Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) pilot project, Improving American Indian Cancer Surveillance and Data Reporting in Wisconsin. She has a medical degree from the University of London in the United Kingdom and began a public health degree in Ohio before moving to Wisconsin in 2001. Jessica joined the Spirit of EAGLES program in March 2006 as a Partnership Program Coordinator working out of the North Dakota Department of Health. In addition to the Spirit of EAGLES program, Jessica also works with the Cancer Information Service and the North Dakota Division of Cancer Prevention and Control. Jessica has a degree in Speech Communication from North Dakota State University. She completed three college internships, including two with the United States Senate. Her background also includes two years of community organizing and tribal outreach within the environmental community.
