Course Content
The Hematology Course is designed to educate nurses in the complete care of
patients with hematologic disorders. The curriculum provides an opportunity
for discussion of case studies and application of knowledge. The course aims
to provide the nurse with an in-depth understanding of the principles of caring
for patients with hematological disorders.
Day One Topics
- Hematopoiesis
- Anemias (sickle cell and others)
- Coagulopathies (DIC and others)
- Hemophilia
Day Two Topics
- Lymphomas
- Multiple Myeloma
- Acute and Chronic Leukemias
- Blood products
Audience
This course is designed for nurses who care for patients with benign and malignant
hematology disorders. This course is both for adult and pediatric oncology nurses
on Day One. Adult content for the nurse to caring for patients with hematologic
disorders is the focus for Day Two.
Continuing Education Credit
7.25 contact hours will be awarded for Day One.
7.25 contact hours will be awarded for Day Two.

Continuing Education Approval Program Committee, an accredited approver by the
