Course Content

This conference is based on the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS, 2005) book: Core Curriculum for Oncology Nurses. Theory and clinical practice components are taught to provide the nurse with an in-depth understanding of the principles of cancer treatment therapies and supportive therapy.

This course is designed to help nurses:

  1. Prepare to successfully pass the ONCC certification exam (OCN)
  2. Review oncology theory and practice issues
  3. Remain current and learn the latest information in the field of oncology nursing
Topics
  • Quality of life
  • Scientific basis for practice including disease pathophysiology
  • Health promotion
  • Symptom management
  • Oncologic emergencies
Audience

The Oncology Nursing Review Course is designed for registered nurses who practice in an oncology setting and/or care for adult oncology patients. Nurses who plan to take the certification exam to become an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) through Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation are particularly encouraged to attend.

Continuing Education Credit

7.3 contact hours will be awarded for this program.
