Lung Cancer Awareness Month: Health Fair

Date: Tuesday, November 4, 2008
Wednesday, November 5, 2008
Time: 9-3pm
Location: UWCCC - Cancer Clinics Atrium
2nd Floor

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Lung cancer kills more Americans each year than breast, colon, and prostate cancer combined.

If you or a friend or loved one has lung cancer, come and learn about this disease – what it is, why it is so difficult to treat, and what progress is being made locally and throughout the nation.

Please join us on Tuesday, November 4 and Wednesday, November 5 (9 am – 3 pm both days) for the Lung Cancer Awareness Health Fair and on Thursday, November 20 for "Putting the Puzzle Pieces Together: The Latest in Lung Cancer Research".

The Health Fair will feature information on:

  • Nutrition
  • Integrative medicine
  • Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention
  • Center for Patient Partnerships and other patient advocacy and caregiver resources
  • Social Work Services, including the Lung Cancer Support Group
  • Clinical trials and current research
  • Managing side effects from chemotherapy and radiation

A raffle for unique items will be held both days in the Cancer Center atrium with proceeds benefiting the UW Lung Cancer Research Program.
