The Flow Cytometry Facility, the UW Carbone Cancer Center, the School
of Medicine and Public Health, and the Office of Continuing Professional
Development in Medicine and Public Health are proud to announce that
the 20th Annual Clinical Flow Cytometry will be taught in Madison August
10-15th, 2008.
The faculty includes experts from around the country and is intended to meet
the needs of individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds who use or intend
to use this technology. The Clinical Flow Cytometry Course is designed to meet the needs of
individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Participants have included attending
physicians, residents, clinical fellows,
research investigators, graduate students,
and individuals from the pharmaceutical
and biotechnology industries.
Course Objectives
Participants will learn:
1. The basic principles of flow cytometry
including specimen preparation, fluidics,
electronics, and fluorochrome selection.
2. How to design and optimize flow
cytometry procedures.
3. How to implement routine measures to
standardize and ensure quality of flow
cytometric procedures.
4. Special flow cytometric applications for
clinical use, including functional assays,
bead-based assays, rare event analysis,
and others.
