The 21st century has been an era of transformation for
the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. Nothing reinforces these
changes as dramatically as the Wisconsin Institutes for Medical Research
- the three-tower biomedical research center emerging on the UW Health
Sciences campus. WIMR, formerly the Interdisciplinary Research Complex (IRC), will bring together researchers in clinical and basic sciences including cancer, imaging science, cardiovascular medicine, ophthalmology, surgery, neuroscience, genetics, proteomics and molecular medicine. Join us in celebrating the grand opening of this historic commitment to scientific innovation and collaboration by attending the ribbon cutting for the East Tower, a soaring, seven-story facility devoted primarily to cancer research, imaging sciences, and surgery. The East Tower is the first of three phases of the WIMR. This visionary project will grow to three towers dedicated to moving new discoveries from the laboratory bench to patients' bedsides and out into communities.
