Intended Audience
This conference is designed for individuals who are involved in cancer treatment and education of cancer patients: oncology physicians, primary care physicians, oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical research associates, health educators, social workers, psychologists and other interested health care professionals involved in cancer care. Patients, caregivers and community members are also encouraged to attend.
Learning Objectives:
This conference will focus on cancer screening and prevention techniques. The conference will address understanding of cancer risks, screening and prevention, as well as closely examine patient navigation, a system for helping people overcome all obstacles on the path to receiving timely cancer screening, treatment and supportive care.
The overall goal is that through education and awareness, health care professionals will be more fully educated regarding screening and prevention issues.
Specific objectives are to assess and understand the following needs:
- Describe the recent cancer trends in Wisconsin
- Identify the pros and cons of patient navigation
- Explain the latest updates and research surrounding mammograms
- Explain the latest updates and research surrounding colon cancer screening
- Explain the latest updates and research surrounding lung cancer screening
- Explain the latest updates and research surrounding the HPV vaccine
