Kim named Interim Chair for Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics

Robert N. Golden, MD, Dean of the School of Medicine and Public Health has announced that Dr. KyungMann Kim, Professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics, has agreed to serve as Interim Chair for the Department of Biostatistics and Medical Informatics, beginning July 1, 2009.
Dr. Kim has served as Associate Chair of the Department since 1997 and is very familiar with the diversity of research that the Department is engaged in. He received his PhD in Statistics, with emphasis in biostatistics, in 1985 from the Department of Statistics here at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He spent 9 years in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Dana Farber Cancer Center Division of Biostatistics. During that period, he was heavily involved in the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG). From 1995 to 1997, he was Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and the Cancer Center. In 1997, he returned to the University of Wisconsin.
Dr. Kim brings a wealth of experience in cancer clinical trials, is a well-known methodologist for his work on the design, monitoring and analysis of clinical trials, and is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. He serves on numerous NIH and other professional society committees.
