Cost Cutters Donates $10,000 to Cancer Research; Raises $20,000 in Matching Funds for Andy North Clip Cancer Fundraiser
December 20, 2006

Bill Kaminski, owner of 45 Cost Cutter Hair Salons in Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, reports that the Andy North Clip Cancer Matching Fundrasier has been met, which results in a $20,000 donation.

Kaminski recently announced on a Madison television station he would donate up to $10,000 in matching funds to the UW Paul P. Carbone Comprehensive Research Cancer Center in honor of two-time U.S. golf champion Andy North.

Kaminski, who developed a friendship with Andy North over the many years he has cut his hair, shaved North's head on the television show to prepare for a medical procedure related to skin cancer North has been fighting since 1991. The procedure, called photodynamic therapy involves using a topical drug on North's head. A blue light then shows where any precancerous cells may be lurking and eliminates them.

This proves that good matches happen both on and off the golf course, Kaminski said. The positive reaction to the $10,000 matching fund was immediate and impactful. Andy has a lot of friends and supporters who came through for our clip cancer fundraiser.

Kaminski, who only cuts hair a few times a year for special friends, is owner and president of the largest Cost Cutters Hair Salon franchise in the country. Corporate offices are in Madison, Wi.
